THE THORN – PRIDE

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6

In essence, God opposes the proud.
pride will resist the flow of the spirit in you, hindering the full manifestation of the character and attribute of Christ in you.

Just like we know, Christ is the perfect image of the Father and also the standard of God for His sons(our perfect example). So, God expects us to meet that standard.

Remember, if any man is in Christ(live like Christ in character and in all righteousness) he is a new creature( living in love and lifestyle of God) old things are passed away (the lifestyle of sin which is full of hatred and not of God) behold you have become new (transformed into the perfect image of God in all areas of life) 2 Corinthians 5:17.

One of the major things that can hinder this transformation process is PRIDE. Pride doesn’t allow for total submission to the continuous transformative power of the Holy spirit in you.

Pride is responsible for hindering the renewal of your mind(way of thinking), and therefore, your whole being cannot be transformed to the image of God (the culture and ways of heaven and not of this world.) Romans 12:2

Therefore, the question is what is pride ?
*Pride is a feeling or state of mind that you, your ideas and way of life are more important and better than that of other people.
*It is also a state where a person feels he is self-sufficient and therefore doesn’t trust in God for life

Habakkuk 2:4 says:
“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.

No wonder God despise the proud, because they so much believe they are better of in their way of life, thinking, attitude etc. Remember Christ, the perfect example for us, who humbled Himself consistently in fellowship with God and in total obedience to the Father, in spite of being equal with God Himself.(Phil 2v5-11)

I admonish you today to humble yourself and allow the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in your life(1 pet 5v5)
